Amirah began her study of Middle Eastern dance over three years ago under the direction of Samira, the director of Arabian Knights Fantasy and the Desrt Dream Dancers, both Lakeland based dance groups.Under Samira's direction Amirah has performed at many musical production of "Egypt H2O" a benefit performance. Amirah advanced to level of professional dancer under the additional direction of Melanie LaJoie director of A Magi dance troupe in Orlando. Under Melanie's direction she performes at Arabian Knights the dinner Theater show on a regular basis and also performs at many city sponsored and charitable events in Central Florida. In 2005 Amirah was crowned Ms. American Belly Dance Princess of Central Florida. This past summer Amirah traveld to Turkey to further her dance education and studied with Sema Yildiz, a well known respected instructor of the Turkish style of belly dance. While in Turkey, Amirah performed at several well known clubs and restaurants and earned her certification in Turkish dance style. Amirah is the featured belly dancer with the band Epic who performs at many Middle Eastern restaurants in Central Florida. This year Amirah founded Arabian Goddess a dance company that teaches women of Polk county Florida the art of belly dancing. Amirah is trained in Egyptian, Turkish and Gypsy styles belly dance and also performs with sword, wings, veil, candles and fire bowl. Her experience includes restaurants, weddings, dinner theater, festivals, private parties and dance workshop performances.
